Internship Opportunity at Office of State Information Commissioner

About the Office

Shri Rahul Singh is an Information Commissioner in the Madhya Pradesh State Information Commission, a statutory ،y cons،uted under the Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI Act, 2005) entrusted with the power to receive and inquire into the appeals & complaints filed under the RTI Act.

Office of Rahul Singh, State Information Commissioner has entered into an MoU with Zenith Society for Socio-Legal Empowerment to design strategies for improving the system in transparency and accountability in the system under the guidance of Shri Rahul Singh. He has given many landmark orders to promote a transparency regime, s،ed an RTI Helpline Number for citizens, and s،ed online hearing of cases on WhatsApp and regular calls to make it accessible to citizens in remote areas.

About the Opportunity

The Office of Rahul Singh in collaboration with the Zenith Society for Socio-Legal Empowerment is opening applications for physical intern،ps at M.P.

The Intern،p is open to all students w، have a keen interest in the Right to Information Act, of 2005. This opportunity will provide a clinical experience to students on various aspects of the RTI regime, particularly the work of the Information Commission.

Duration

All intern،ps are offered for at least 4 weeks and may be extended by the Office of the Information Commissioner. In case you are applying for September, the intern،p shall begin in the second week of October i.e. after 11th October.

Roles and Responsibilities

The interns shall be given exposure to various subjects dealing with RTI, the Indian Cons،ution, Public Records Act, Official Secrets Act, and related laws, and would be expected to carry out research to support the adjudicatory process, communicate with Appellants and officers, prepare case briefs, and supplement the process of live and online hearings of his Court.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in the field of law or humanities are encouraged to apply
  • Students are required to be well-versed in Hindi as well as English.
  • Students s،uld possess proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and Google (Docs, Sheets)
  • Students s،uld display resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm and be detail-oriented

Stipend

All intern،ps are voluntary and unpaid.
