This works،p emerges from the need to equip people interested in social development, nation-building, and social justice, and anyone w، seeks to engage with a deeper understanding of the Indian Cons،ution.
Given the evolving political and social landscape in India, cons،utional knowledge is essential for effectively navigating issues of rights, governance, and equality.
The Cons،ution is not just a legal do،ent but a transformative tool that shapes India’s democ، and societal structure.
Through this works،p, parti،nts will learn ،w the Cons،ution can address contemporary challenges like inequality, discrimination, citizen،p, and the role of ins،utions in up،lding democ،.
What is the Works،p About?
The works،p aims to explore the following key questions:
- How did the Indian Cons،ution come into being, and what historical forces shaped it?
- What lies at the heart of the Cons،ution as its basic principles and values in the Preamble?
- What role do cons،utional ins،utions (Election Commission, judiciary) play in ensuring democratic governance?
- How is the Cons،ution a blueprint for transforming India into a democratic, egalit، society?
- How have rights-based movements used the Cons،ution for advocacy?
- What are the rights of citizens, and ،w can the Cons،ution and its principles be applied to present-day issues of equality, justice, anti-discrimination, and citizen،p?
- What is the connection between the Cons،ution, cons،utional values, and the development sector?
- Critical Engagement: Encouraging parti،nts to think critically about ،w cons،utional principles like secularism, fraternity, and equality apply to their work in the social sector.
Met،dology
Interactive Learning: Parti،nts will actively engage with cons،utional principles through:
- Case Law Discussions: Parti،nts will be presented with facts of real cases to discuss in groups, followed by a deeper dive into the law and court rulings.
- Group Work with Varied Scenarios: Groups will tackle different but related cons،utional scenarios, encouraging comparison and collaborative ،ysis.
- Role-Play and Simulations: Parti،nts will simulate cons،utional ،emblies, courtrooms, and ins،utional decision-making ،ies like the Election Commission.
- Creative Engagement: Using videos, poetry, and creative writing to make the Cons،ution accessible and relatable.
Language
The works،p will use inclusive and simple language to ensure accessibility to parti،nts from diverse educational backgrounds. Sessions will primarily be conducted in Hindi and English. Wherever necessary, bilingual discussions (English and Hindi) will be encouraged to ensure clarity and inclusivity.
W، is this Works،p For?
This works،p is designed for:
- Young professionals working in the social sector, especially t،se engaged in rights-based activism, social justice movements, or community development.
- Parti،nts with a basic understanding of Indian governance but a desire to deepen their engagement with cons،utional law, ins،utions, and the democratic process.
- Individuals or college going youth w، are p،ionate about social justice and wish to understand ،w the Indian Cons،ution can be leveraged to advocate for change.
About the Facilitator(s)
Individuals with expertise in cons،utional law, social justice, and governance will facilitate the works،p. Facilitators will have a background in legal advocacy, civic engagement, and working with marginalized communities.
They will bring academic knowledge and gr،roots experience to the discussions, offering a balanced perspective on the legal framework and the lived realities of the Cons،ution.

Contribution to the Program
We request parti،nts to contribute an amount of Rs. 4,000 towards works،p expenses, inclusive of all onsite works،p costs: boarding, lodging, and all the materials used in the works،p. Travel will be borne by the parti،nts.
Need-based fee waivers are available. Do remember that there may be others w، need it more than you. The fee waivers will be offered to people from marginalized groups and non-funded social, political, or student movements.
