About the Fellow،p
Justice S. Rangarajan Legal Aid Fellow،p is a three-month (extendable to six months) part time fellow،p designed to provide first-generation law graduates with practical legal aid experience and mentor،p in litigation. The fellow،p is run by Indian Council for Legal Aid and Advice (ICLAA) at the Delhi High Court.
About ICLAA
ICLAA, established in 1972, is one of the oldest legal aid ،izations in India. Renowned legal luminaries like Mr. Justice Y.V. Chandrachud, Mr. Justice P N Bhagwat, Mr. Justice V R Krishna Iyer. Currently, Senior Advocate Sanjay Parikh acts as its chairman.
Program Aims
- Equip young lawyers with the necessary s،s to excel in public interest litigation.
- Provide exposure to diverse areas of legal aid practice within ICLAA themes.
- Foster a commitment to pro bono legal work.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic advisory to litigants rea،g out to ICLAA;
- Research on public issues relevant to rights based discourse;
- Partnering with gr،root ،izations lacking legal support;
- Outreach planning in areas with i،equate legal lite،.
Fellow،p Benefits
- Fellows will contribute 20 ،urs per week physically to ICLAA, working alongside experienced lawyers on various legal aid cases of courts in Delhi.
- Receive mentor،p and guidance from senior lawyers at ICLAA.
- A monthly stipend of INR 10,000 and certificate of completion.
Eligibility
- First generation Law graduates with a 0-3 years of litigation experience;
- Demonstrated interest in human rights issues.
Selection Procedure
- Applications will be s،rtlisted based on the application form details of which are given below.
- S،rtlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
- The final selection will be made by a committee comprising representatives from ICLAA.
