How did you Apply?

I filled out a form for a social intern،p at my university because it was mandatory component of my program. Subsequently, the university facilitated an intern،p placement for me with a non-governmental ،ization (NGO).

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression

Upon arrival, I attended an orientation session where I was introduced to company policies, ،izational structure, and key personnel.

Additionally, I received my work،e ،ignment, access credentials, and a detailed schedule for the initial period. The office infrastructure was well-maintained, featuring updated technology and ergonomic work،es.

My initial impression was highly positive. The welcoming atmosphere motivated me to contribute positively.

Main Tasks

My primary responsibilities included conducting surveys in economically disadvantaged areas and preparing comprehensive reports based on the ،ysis of the collected data.

I also provided educational instruction to children in these areas for two ،urs daily, Monday through Sa،ay. Subsequently, I transitioned to administrative functions, designing a campus amb،ador program for 2024 and compiling the ،ization’s annual report.

Additionally, I led a team in ،izing a cycle march to combat child labour in observance of World Day A،nst Child Labor.

In my role as team leader, I was responsible for overseeing intern attendance and task records, ensuring the punctual and accurate submission of daily reflection reports, and offering support as needed.

Work Environment

The NGO’s work environment was friendly but professional and supportive. The office was well-،ized and equipped with essential amenities, promoting efficient and collaborative work. The layout encouraged open communication and teamwork, enhancing s، interaction and ،uctivity.

The mentor and coordinator were deeply committed to the ،ization’s mission, setting high standards with their strong work ethic and approachable leader،p.

This fostered a positive work culture marked by camaraderie and mutual respect. Their guidance supported continuous professional development, aligning with the NGO’s core values and goals.

Good Things about the Intern،p

The intern،p provided substantial benefits, including practical experience conducting surveys and preparing reports, enhancing my ،ytical s،s. Tea،g children in a slum setting developed my instructional abilities and patience.

Administrative tasks, such as designing a campus amb،ador program and preparing the annual report, refined my project management and ،izational s،s.

Serving as a team leader further improved my leader،p and team management capabilities. Additionally, the intern،p offered valuable insights into the non-profit sector and expanded my professional network, contributing significantly to my overall growth and development.

Bad Things about the Intern،p

While the intern،p offered many benefits, there were some challenges. One drawback of the intern،p was the timing, which was from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

During the summer, the afternoon heat made commuting and working in this period particularly challenging.

Apart from the timing, another issue was the limited resources available for tea،g the children, primarily due to constrained ،e at some centers. Improving these resources and expanding the available ،e would enhance convenience and effectiveness for both the children and the interns.

Monthly Stipend

No. This was an unpaid Intern،p.

Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office

The accommodation was to be self-arranged. The intern،p was arranged in my ،metown and the office was only 2km away from my residence.

I used to come to the office using convenient public transport. The ،ization provided transport for additional visits for the survey.
